Target identification can be difficult while operating on NVDs. As a result, virtually all military forces utilize Identify Friend or Foe (IFF) beacons which make it easier to identify friendly forces. In a law enforcement tactical environment, the need for IFF is often overlooked. While there are a wide variety of IFF beacons available, almost all of them are too bright for use in an LE environment causing "blooming out" of NVDs and interfering with operations. The Phoenix Jr is perfectly suited for LE use providing a bright enough strobe to allow immediate identification of friendly forces while not overwhelming NVDs, even while operating indoors. The Phoenix Jr runs on a single 123A battery and weighs less than half an ounce.
